Police Officers Interdicted after Kware Killings Main Suspect’s Escape
Eight officers have been interdicted from the National Police Service by acting IG of police Gilbert Masengeli over the escape of the prime suspect into the Kware killings Collins Jumaisi and 12 other suspects.
Masengeli said Gigiri Sub-county commander, Officer Commanding Station (OCS) and report officers are among those sacked and are in police custody as a result of the early Tuesday morning prison break.
Masengeli described the incident as “an inside job”.
The police boss was flanked by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) chief Amin Mohamed and Kenya Police Service Deputy Inspector General Eliud Langat among other officers.
They held a security operation within the station and assessed how the suspects disappeared.
Masengeli said the search is on and expressed confidence that they will be apprehended.
The officers said they were screening the CCTV footage to give the investigators more details regarding the incident.
Jumaisi made headlines after police paraded him before the media and claimed he had confessed to killing at least 42 women and dumping their bodies in Kware from 2022 to 2024.
They claimed he had admitted that his first victim was his wife, who he allegedly strangled to death and dismembered before dumping her remains at the dump site.
The suspect later told the court that the police tortured him and forced him to confess to the murders.
