Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua Unveils Democracy for Citizens Party

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua unveiled his much-anticipated political party the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) on Thursday, March 15, 2025.
Having resigned from the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) on May 12, 2025, Gachagua unveiled the new party at the DCP headquarters on Musa Gitau Road, Lavington, on Thursday, May 15, at 9:00 a.m.
Speaking during the launch, Gachagua revealed that the party’s symbol was ‘Sikiza Wakenya’, “but Kenyans can always interchange it with ‘Sikiza Ground’”. He also said that DCP’s symbol is a ‘listening ear’, “because we believe every Kenyan must be listened to by their leaders.”
The DCP’s party colours are green, brown, and black, and its logo features a hand touching an ear, symbolising “listening to the ground.”
The party’s slogan is Kazi na Haki (Work and Justice).
Gachagua has built his political message around “listening to the people,” whom he claims no longer identify with the UDA party that once propelled him and President Ruto to power.
While at it, Gachagua also unveiled a long list of the new party officials;
