Governor Sakaja congratulates NSL Champions Nairobi United on coronation day

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has congratulated the newly crowned National Super League 2024/2025 champions, Nairobi United football club after the team, sponsored by the Sakaja Johnson Foundation, lifted the trophy on the final day of the league.
Nairobi United were crowned the 2024/25 National Super League champions today despite a 0-3 loss to Naivas FC in their final match of the season.
.Following the team’s triumph, where they secured an unassailable lead in the league winning the title before the coronation day, and earned promotion to the top tier Football Kenya Federation Premier League.
In his congratulatory message, Sakaja praised the resilience of the team during the season National Super League which saw the team, which is sponsored by the Sakaja Johnson Foundation emerge top of the log.
“I want to congratulate the whole team for a job well done. We said we are going to work hard to support you and you haven’t failed us. You actually secured promotion to the top flight league with three games to spare meaning you were really hungry for success,” Sakaja said.
Under the tutelage of head coach Nicholas Muyoti, Nairobi United have put together an impressive campaign and are looking at chance to play continental football. Nairobi United are slated to play the final if the Mozzartbet cup against Gor Mahia, and the winner of the cup will represent Kenya in the CAF Confederation cup, CAF’s second largest continental club competition.
The club, originally founded in 2015 as Balaji EPZ FC, was renamed Nairobi United FC in 2022. A major turning point came in September 2024 when Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, through the Sakaja Foundation, acquired the team and promised to invest in youth development, infrastructure, and recruitment.
