Political analyst Hon. Joseck Mikaye States Governor Amos Nyaribo Is Currently Facing One Of The Most Difficult Phases Of His Political Career

Nyaribo rose to power in 2022 as ritinge following the death of former Governor John Nyagarama. However, the political landscape has significantly shifted in recent months. The impeachment of the former County Speaker, the rise of Generation Z, and ongoing friction with current Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have created major setbacks for his administration.

Speaking in an interview on Getembe TV, Hon. Joseck said that Nyaribo’s chances of re-election are slim to none. “I don’t see any path that could rescue Nyaribo’s re-election bid*. Even dialogue efforts with the MCAs won’t make a difference,” he remarked.

He also noted that Nyaribo is struggling to find a new deputy governor from the West Mugirango voting bloc, which contributed over 30,000 votes in the last general election..
Despite acquiring tractors and road maintenance equipment, Joseck argues that Nyaribo still doubts the Bosamaro community’s support could match that of Bogichora, which overwhelmingly backed him last time. Consequently, he is now turning to Nyamaiya and Bomwagamo regions. However, according to Joseck, these areas have already shifted loyalty to the opposition team led by Chanua and Jerusa Momanyi, both considered front-runners.“The only region Nyaribo seems to maintain support in is Magwagwa ward in North Mugirango. The rest appear to have aligned with the Chanua-led team. It seems he has already lost significant ground,” he added.

Joseck further criticized Nyaribo for being inflexible and dismissive of constructive advice. This, he claims, has alienated key allies, including a 2027 presidential hopeful Dr Fred Matiangi who is now considering shifting to another party, leaving Nyaribo isolated within the UPA party.

He also accused Nyaribo of using the courts to suppress elected MCAs instead of engaging them constructively, labeling them as threats rather than partners in governance.

Joseck has accused Governor Amos Nyaribo of dismissing dissent and resorting to court action to suppress the current elected MCAs, labeling them as threats instead of engaging them on their concerns.

Nyaribo, who is currently facing impeachment, is accused of the irregular employment of over 400 workers without a supporting budget. This has reportedly forced the county Human Resource office to slash the salaries of existing employees to accommodate the new hires. This move has further infuriated the MCAs, who may now proceed with tabling an impeachment motion and forward it to the Senate, which is said to be already fed up with Nyaribo’s authoritarian style of leadership as Nyamira Governor.

In addition, over 4,000 permanent employees of Nyamira County are said to be against his form of management, citing mismanagement and unfair labor practices.

Joseck, a political commentator and aspiring MCA for Bokeira Ward, continues to be one of the vocal critics of Nyaribo’s administration.
