Nairobi – In a spirited and emotionally charged address at Uhuru Park during the Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) National Delegates Conference, party leader and seasoned statesman H.E. Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka officially accepted his nomination as the WPF Presidential Candidate for the 2027 General Election.

Addressing thousands of delegates, supporters, dignitaries, and members of the international community, Kalonzo’s message was clear and forceful: Kenya is hurting — but hope is alive. And under his leadership, the nation can and will rise again.

“I Accept, With a Full and Grateful Heart”

Kalonzo opened his speech with humility and resolve, accepting the nomination with a deep sense of duty. He extended heartfelt gratitude to God, his family — especially his wife Pauline and their children — and to the people of Kenya.

“I accept your nomination… without reservation… to lead this exceptional Patriotic Front to victory and restore hope and stability to our beloved nation.”

He acknowledged notable political figures in attendance including Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Hon. Martha Karua, Hon. Eugene Wamalwa, and Speaker Emeritus JB Muturi, calling them “special observers” whose presence was “telling.”

A Nation in Crisis: Kalonzo Paints Grim Picture of Ruto Administration

Dr. Musyoka did not mince words in his critique of President William Ruto’s government, accusing it of economic sabotage, institutional capture, and betrayal of the Kenyan people.

He highlighted what he called the “pain of a nation”:

  • Over-taxation and under-service: Kenyans are paying more but receiving less.
  • Youth unemployment: Educated youth are jobless, while government appointments are handed to unqualified loyalists.
  • Health crisis: Hospitals lack medicine, doctors go unpaid, and the SHIF program is described as a “threat to well-being.”
  • Education decay: Students are uncertain of their futures, and teachers are demoralized.
  • Debt mismanagement: Ruto’s government accused of “an insatiable appetite for loans.”
  • Judicial and media pressure: Kalonzo warned against the regime’s attempts to muzzle independent institutions.

He claimed Kenya’s diplomacy has suffered under Ruto, accusing the government of regional destabilization, arms deals, and environmental exploitation under the guise of climate leadership.

Most emotionally, Kalonzo referenced the Gen Z protests of June 25, 2024, condemning the violent crackdown on youth activists:

“A government that silences its own children has lost the right to lead.”

The Patriotic Alternative: A Vision for New Kenya

While blistering in his critique, Kalonzo offered a hopeful and detailed alternative, promising transformative leadership that prioritizes dignity, justice, and opportunity for all.

Key highlights of his Patriotic Front agenda include:

  • A 24-hour economy to drive growth and jobs.
  • Lowering fuel and electricity costs to revive local industries.
  • Cancellation of punitive taxes like the Housing Levy.
  • Transparent and accessible youth enterprise funds in every county.
  • Investment in education and vocational training with a promise of “real education, not self-appointed degreeships.”
  • Affordable healthcare, stocked hospitals, and fair pay for health workers.
  • Ending police brutality and defending freedoms of expression and assembly.
  • Empowering farmers, traders, and hustlers as the backbone of the economy.

“Professionalism, not Rutoism, will get you a job,” he declared.

“Shoot Ruto at the Ballot” — A Call to Action

Kalonzo’s rallying cry was unequivocal and electrifying:

“Ruto ordered for you to be shot not in the head but in the legs because you dared to exercise your constitutional rights. I urge all of you here to SHOOT RUTO AT THE BALLOT.

The crowd erupted in chants of “KOMBOA KENYA!” and “WANTAM!”, his now-viral campaign slogan. Kalonzo implored all eligible Kenyans to register to vote, insisting that change will only come through the ballot.

A Government-in-Waiting

Asserting that the Wiper Patriotic Front and its partners are ready to govern, Kalonzo spoke of a future that is inclusive, transparent, and accountable:

“This is our moment. We cannot allow despair to kill our dreams, nor corrupt leadership to steal our future.”

He paid tribute to all sectors of society — youth, women, farmers, traders — and referenced the tragic case of Bridgit Njoki, vowing to protect every child in Kenya.

He concluded with a rallying national call:

“From Lamu to Kiambu, Wote to Turkana, and from Sugoi to Tseikuru — we all deserve dignity and honest leadership.”

Looking Ahead

Kalonzo Musyoka’s speech signaled the official launch of what is likely to be a high-stakes and emotionally charged 2027 presidential campaign. His message, equal parts critique and hope, may resonate with a nation still reeling from economic strain and social unrest.

What remains to be seen is whether the Wiper Party and its coalition partners can maintain this momentum, present a united front, and translate the rallying cry of “KOMBOA KENYA” into votes.

Kenya’s political landscape is shifting. And the race to 2027 has officially begun.
